ActiveDocs adds new features with ActiveDocs Opus Barracuda release

ActiveDocs Limited, a world leader in the provision of document creation applications, announced today that it has released the next version of the ActiveDocs Opus platform called BARRACUDA with new features that will provide significant benefits to customers. The new features extend an already impressive series of features that ship with the third generation platform of the widely installed ActiveDocs document automation software.

These new features include:

  • Charting – data can now be represented graphically in a wide range of chart formats including scatter, bar, and line graphs and pie charts
  • Headers And Footers – full ActiveDocs Opus technology can now be deployed in document headers and footers
  • Dynamic Data Sources – Template Designers can now specify model data sources for which users can supply data at run-time

Dutch Equal Treatment Commission (Commissie Gelijke Behandeling) implements ActiveDocs Opus integration with FileNet P8.

ActiveDocs announces the End of Life for existing Enterprise Suite.

ActiveDocs International Ltd, a world leader in the provision of Document Automation applications, today announced the End Of Life for all versions of the widely installed ActiveDocs Enterprise Suite.

ActiveDocs will continue to provide support for a period of 18 months, to clients who are current with ActiveDocs Software Assurance.

Clients who are current with Software Assurance also have the automatic right to upgrade from ActiveDocs Enterprise to ActiveDocs Opus for a period of 18 months.

On Feb 1st 2010 the right to upgrade will terminate and all support for ActiveDocs Enterprise will cease.

Glenn Ricketts, CEO of ActiveDocs said “The Enterprise application is a legacy system that does not support the latest version of Microsoft® Office or the latest document formats, and cannot be extended to support the next generation of Microsoft® Server platforms. Therefore we have decided to End of Life the product. Our newest application, ActiveDocs Opus, provides a superior set of features which were unable to be provided in the Enterprise system, and supports the latest version of Microsoft® Office and the latest document formats. The Opus codebase and architecture allow us to accommodate future generations of Microsoft® Server and Office platforms, with testing of Microsoft® Windows Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008 already in progress. We will continue to provide technical support for clients under our Software Assurance policy for a period of 18 months to enable a smooth transition. We have utilities specifically developed to migrate existing automated templates created with the Enterprise application to the Opus application and our team of application specialists will be available to provide additional technical assistance if required.”

ActiveDocs announces Open Document Format (ODF) support to complement OOXML

ActiveDocs announces the End of Life for existing Desktop and Authoring Tool applications (4.1) and cross grade program.

ActiveDocs Limited, a world leader in the provision of document creation applications, announced today that the widely installed ActiveDocs Desktop and the ActiveDocs Authoring Tool applications (v4.1) have been End of Lifed as from today.

The products affected are all ActiveDocs Desktop and ActiveDocs Authoring Tool versions. The TabletPC product was discontinued 2 years ago.

ActiveDocs will continue to provide support to clients who are paying annual Software Assurance for a period of 18 months.

ActiveDocs also announces a new program which will provide clients with the ability to cross grade to ActiveDocs Opus for a period of 18 months. The cross grade program allows for a 100% credit for licences paid when migrating to the ActiveDocs Opus application suite. Only current Software Assurance paying customers may take advantage of the cross grade program.

On Sept 1st 2009 the cross grade program will terminate and all support for the Desktop and Authoring Tool will cease.

BP International to deploy ActiveDocs Opus for HR documentation.

ActiveDocs Limited, a world leader in the provision of document creation applications, today announced that BP International will deploy an automated ActiveDocs Opus system as part of their HR IS solution. This solution involves multiple applications including BrassRing(TM) and SAP(TM). The deployment is to be overseen by Accenture (TM).

The new features extend an already impressive series of features that ship with the third generation platform of the widely installed ActiveDocs document automation software.

These new features include:

  • Template Change Management, the ability to recreate documents from historic template versions, and Deferred Publishing capabilities which allow customers to prepare content within templates and allocate a publish date and time.
  • Free Text editing and formatting capabilities – including fonts, lists, and tables – from within the Document Wizard. Designers specify the range of formatting features available to the end user.
  • Extended capabilities for integration which allows for web services connectivity for data sources and document storage.

University of Houston implements ActiveDocs Opus

ActiveDocs Limited, a world leader in the provision of document creation applications announced today that the University of Houston based in Houston, Texas USA who are an existing user of the ActiveDocs Desktop and Enterprise applications have decided to upgrade to ActiveDocs Opus.

The University has used ActiveDocs to automate the creation of document templates over the past 3 years and has decided to migrate to the enhanced functionality and features provided with ActiveDocs Opus application.

Nexus IS Inc deploys ActiveDocs Opus for S.O.W. application

ActiveDocs Limited, a world leader in the provision of document creation applications, today announced that Nexus Integration Services (Nexus IS) a large US based system integrator headquartered in Valencia California has deployed an ActiveDocs Opus solution. In this deployment Nexus IS will use ActiveDocs Opus to automate the creation of Statement of Work (S.O.W.) documentation for use in complex implementations for their customers throughout the Western United States.

Nexus IS has offices throughout California, Arizona, Oregon, Washington and Southern Nevada and employs more than 300 people.

Australian Defence Force Develops ActiveDocs Opus Solution

ActiveDocs Limited, a world leader in the provision of document creation applications, today announced that the Australian Defence Science and Technology Organisation has purchased an ActiveDocs Opus Development System in order to develop a template based automated reporting process of Defence Readiness Preparedness across the different Australian Defence Force Divisions. The DSTO originally approached ActiveDocs in order to streamline the cumbersome monthly reporting process currently in use within the Australian Defence Force.

The development of an automated solution will enable multiple efficiencies to be incorporated into the reporting process. Automating the process eliminates the opportunities for error and omission, problems commonly associated with cutting and pasting multiple documents and helps to ensure accurate information.


Aizkraukles Banka in Latvia deploys ActiveDocs Opus

ActiveDocs Limited, a world leader in the provision of document creation applications, announced today that Aizkraukles Bank in Latvia has deployed the new ActiveDocs Opus application to automate the production of critical banking documents.

The new system will enable the Aizkraules Bank to utilize the enhanced features of the ActiveDocs Opus technology and in particular the new multi-language feature. Once complete the ActiveDocs Opus application will produce automated template based documents in both Cyrillic character sets and English for use within Latvia.

ActiveDocs Opus V1.1 Released

ActiveDocs Limited, a world leader in the provision of document creation applications, today announced the release of V1.1 of the new ActiveDocs Opus system.

The latest release provides significant performance enhancements as well as feature enhancements.

Included in this release is an increase in automated document production, ActiveDocs Opus will now output in excess of 100,000 documents per hour from a single server environment. Performance increase is lineal and scales out in multiserver environments.

Other enhancements include support for Microsoft® Vista and Microsoft® Office 2007 and support for new XML formats such as docx and xps.

Also included is support for PDF document creation direct from Microsoft® Office 2007 loaded on a server without the requirement for a third party add in. This change has resulted in a 300% improvement in the time taken to assemble a document in the PDF format as apposed to Word ML. Output in PDF is now around 80% of Word ML or circa 80,000 documents per hour.

OCE deploys ActiveDocs Enterprise

ActiveDocs Limited, a world leader in the provision of document creation applications, today announced that OCE Corporation has deployed ActiveDocs Enterprise as part of a global initiative called SCI or the sales configuration system. This project has been in development for nearly 18months and will allow OCE to automate the generation of multiple documents required for the delivery and installation of OCE products.

Provincie Limburg implements ActiveDocs /FileNet P8

ActiveDocs Limited, a world leader in the provision of document creation applications, announced today that Provincie Limburg in the Netherlands have successfully implemented ActiveDocs Enterprise and the FileNet P8 connector developed by Novadoc Technology.

Novadoc is a major European partner for ActiveDocs and a FileNet premier implementation partner. Novadoc developed the P8 connector for ActiveDocs Enterprise to provide full integration with the FileNet P8 suite.

Provincie Groningen Implements ActiveDocs/FileNet P8

ActiveDocs Limited, a world leader in the provision of document automation applications, announced today that Provincie Groningen in the Netherlands has implemented ActiveDocs Enterprise fully integrated with FileNet P8 via a connector developed by Novadoc Technology.

Provincie Groningen is a major local government organisation in the Netherlands and has deployed the full ActiveDocs Enterprise suite of products including over 200 concurrent users and the fully automated High Volume document production module capable of producing in excess of 70,000 documents per hour.

The system also takes advantage of the ability to translate the applications resource files to allow the users to create documents in the Dutch language.

ActiveDocs Limited, a world leader in the provision of document creation applications, today announced the release of the ActiveDocs Opus Suite. ActiveDocs Opus is built on Microsoft® .Net V3 framework and leverages the power of Microsoft® Word.

The power of ActiveDocs Opus to automate complex and critical business documents creates efficiencies and allows the business total control over document templates and content via our Content Manager technology. This major step forward allows the Designers of templates to visually see the linkage of rules and business logic across hundreds or thousands of templates. By leveraging Content Manager residing within ActiveDocs Opus, the Template Designer can make a change to critical content (a legal clause for instance) that will dynamically change that content in any linked templates. This significantly simplifies the management and change control of literally thousands of business documents.

With the multi-language capability ActiveDocs Opus will allow a user to create a document using an English wizard but deliver that same document in another language (Chinese, Japanese, and German etc). This allows true multinational use of business documents and ensures compliance and corporate guidelines are enforced.
